Where Is Hot In April?
April is a funny time for a holiday, many of the places that were hot in the winter continue to be warm now, and Europe is warming up for the first time in the year. It really depends what you are going for – some places in Europe will give you a holiday similar to a UK summers day, which is fine for some but others want searing heat where they can sunbathe all day, and for this will still need to travel a little further afield
Canary Islands
The Canaries are definitely starting to heat up in April, with temperatures averaging at 23 degrees Celsius, which is very much like a good British summer day, and as long as that is what you are after it is a great place to visit. It is of course by no means guaranteed that it’ll be this hot all the time, but the odds are in your favour. There are plenty of different islands to choose from – Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Tenerife are all popular destinations with Brits.
Dominican Republic
If you want somewhere that little bit warmer and don’t mind travelling that little bit further, the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean is a nice hot destination, with lows of 21 degrees Celsius and highs of 30, so even the lowest is like the best August days in Britain. It will take around 9 hours to get there, but it will be worth it when you see the beautiful beaches and the many activities that you can undertake, such as excursions and white water rafting.
Gambia
Even warmer, the average temperature in this African country is a humid 33 degrees, so should only be considered if you are looking for heat of this intensity! There are plenty of things to do here beyond sunbathing, ranging from a great nightlife in the capital city of Banjul and even crocodile farms where you can feed the crocs!
Thailand
The many beaches, islands and great nightlife of Thailand is always a good option for some spring sunshine, and temperatures can be anything up to 30 degrees Celsius so you will have a nice hot holiday if you choose to go here.
