In the centre of the city, at the mouth of the Dubracina River, on a gravel beach, near a little church, (crikvica) from which the town took its name, in a one-time monastery of the 14th century, is the Hotel Kastel. It was opened in 1988 with 73 rooms.The high quality cleanliness of the sea has brought Crikvenica a "blue flag", the Europen recognition for seawater cleanliness. Closest airport is in Zagreb.
