Tucked away at the northern end of Kenya's coast line, lies a little group of islands, the Lamu Archipelago. The hotel is located just a short walk from the main street and the Lamu Waterfront. Lamu has changed very little in 200 years, there is no motor traffic and transportation is by donkey or dhow.

The hotel is one of Lamu's best preserved and famous 18th century stone houses. It combines the unique elegance of traditional Swahili architecture, with modern comfort and hospitality.

During the day guests could take a sailing dhow to Matodoni the place where the dhows are built, visit the 16th century Takwa ruins, go fishing or snorkelling at Manda Toto. The fabulous Shella beach is a 15 minute boat ride away, with its 14 km of golden sands backed by sand dunes.
