Edinburgh Airport began as Turnhouse Aerodrome, which was a British air defence base during the First World War. It was later renamed RAF Turnhouse by the Ministry of Defence and used by RAF Fighter Command during World War Two.

How to get to the airport by car, coach, taxi or train

By Car or Taxi

Edinburgh Airport is located eight miles west of the city centre. It is accessible via the A8 Glasgow Road junction, near the M8 and M9 motorways.

By Bus

There are regular bus services between Edinburgh Airport, the city centre and further afield.

By Train

Edinburgh Gateway train station is situated on the airport perimeter and can be reached from the terminal via a tram link.
