5 Ways To Beat The January Blues

With Christmas cheer well and truly over, it’s time to hit the lull of early 2019 with a bump. January isn’t the best of months; once the decorations are down, the mulled wine put away and the reality of a long wait for payday has hit, it can get you down somewhat.

The third Monday in January (the 21st) is said to be Blue Monday, the day when all the feelings come to a head and you’re praying for February to arrive! But don’t fear, we have five ways to beat the blues this before that point…

1. Book A Holiday

Give yourself something to look forward to by booking a getaway in January. There really is nothing better than browsing around and bagging a dreamy getaway when you’re feeling a little blue. If you can’t stretch your January wage far enough for a luxury escape, look into a more budget-friendly UK staycation or a low cost holiday.

2. Get Active

One of the easiest ways to get yourself out of a funk is to get active! Pass up on the gym to avoid the January crowds and get outside in the brisk air to really dust off those Christmas cobwebs. Choose an activity that fits your ability, so you won’t be deterred; activities like a long walk, hike or bike ride are great for this time of year.

3. Binge Watch A Box Set

Sit back, pop on a streaming service and spend the night binging the latest box set or must-see series. Sometimes it’s the simple things that help you to relax and transport you, things like Netflix and Amazon Prime.

4. Try Something New

Get out there and try something new to put the blues at bay! You don’t have to set a resolution to make a difference in your daily life or take up a new hobby. Maybe you want to get out of your comfort zone a little by trying a new sport? Want to get crafty? Try out crocheting perhaps. There really is something new and exciting out there for everyone to discover.

5. Treat Yourself

If you’re looking for a quick fix for the January blues, treating yourself to a pamper session is the one for you! Run a hot bubble bath, open a bottle of wine and break out the face mask – there are lots of ways to relax and pamper yourself. Taking time to step away from your worries and relax is a great way to cheer yourself up and really embrace what makes you happy.
