Blog At The Beach Festival Round Up

Saturday 7th July saw the return of #BlogAtTheBeach, our biannual blogger event, this time held at New Craven Hall in Leeds. Along with 86 bloggers, we gathered for a day of influencer talks, sunshine and a game of footy – plus the odd passion fruit cider thrown in, as it wouldn’t be a festival without it.

This time round we went with a party theme to make the most of the British summer, although the true festival vibe wasn't quite experienced as there wasn’t a drop of rain in sight. We did get to sit in the sun eating hot dogs and blowing bubbles to the soundtrack of the music studio next door, however.

We managed to trend nationally on Twitter throughout the day, alongside hashtags for Pride and the England World Cup game, which is no easy feat when there are so many exciting things going on in the country. But, that’s the power of influencers. We had a brilliant day meeting everyone, and we cannot wait for our next event, so keep your eyes peeled for details.

We kicked off the day with our first speaker, Sophie Mei Lan from Mama Mei, who spoke to us on ways in which to make it in the media and up our profile. After a quick break, it was time for Vix of Vix Meldrew to take to the stage and have us in fits of laughter with her talk on packaging your brand in order to stand out. To get us ready for lunch and a screening of the England game, we then had Riccardo, the Italian Stallion from, speak to the influencers about our affiliate programme.

After an interval filled with freshly made pizza and hot dogs, it was time to get back down to the business of influencer talks. We were joined by Sabina from Girl Vs Globe, who flew all the way back from Shanghai to speak to us about embracing video to befriend your audience.

To round off a pretty spectacular day we needed to pull something big out of the bag, so we opted for a giant lorry and 1700 beach balls – go big or go home as they say. Not only did we hide prizes inside the lorry for people to find, including a £100 Daniel Footwear voucher and a city break, we managed to make the perfect backdrop for Instagram pictures.

It was then time for our party games to really begin, with our take on Pass the Parcel called 'Slide the Suitcase', with suitcases provided by Travel Luggage Cabin Bags and a life-size game of beer pong. The team managed to make it to the beer pong final, but we unfortunately lost out. Next year, victory will be ours!

The Joby Gorillapods & Lowepro M-Trekker bag prizes were not meant to be ours on this occasion, but they have gone to good homes and worthy winners.

Thank you from all the team to everyone who came along on the day, and supported us with the event. Here are some more snaps…
