Rewind to September 2022. Another day in the world of icelolly.com but with a new mission: to develop a TV commercial, ready to air on Boxing Day… that year. A herculean task, you may think. Not for us.
Working alongside brilliant Brighton-based agency, Designate, and stop motion animation agency, A+C, we turned our (concise) brief into a masterpiece. A piece of stop motion magic if you will.
Why stop motion animation? What better way to bring the passion, playfulness, and soul of our brand to life than in a unique perspective, one so different to what we see on our TV screens, one that joins the chaos of holiday searching, juxtaposed with the ease of using icelolly.com. Our tagline is fast, simple holiday comparison after all.
The TV commercial
Meet Mel and Joey, a holiday-loving couple dreaming of escaping the dreary British weather. Oh, and their beloved gnome, Gnorman. He’s there too.
They’re getting ready to book their next getaway, but they’ve hit a snag. Information overload - from thousands of websites, all shouting about their holidays - has left them feeling less-than-sure about what the best deal is.
The gang love knowing they have plenty of options but all that searching far and wide to find the best deal (and to know it really is the best, too) is making them feel more deflated than a punctured beach ball.
We couldn’t have that, so we sent in Lilly, our icelolly.com representative, to save the day! Like us, Lilly is a big believer in making holiday comparison fast and simple. So, she’s helping Mel, Joey and Gnorman cut through the noise to help them compare the best holidays from the best providers at the best prices.
Now, that’s something to smile about. No wonder Mel and Joey are looking cheery!
