You might have heard of it, you might not, but Universal’s incredible water park, Volcano Bay is taking the Orlando scene by storm and we want to take you along for the ride. Okay, well, actually we want to tell you about some of the coolest rides at this amazing place.
There’s plenty to explore at Volcano Bay with countless rides, many of which have several different slides so in reality there’s way more to try out. There are also 6 restaurants in the park with a very strong south pacific theme and feel. So, what are we waiting for? These are some of the coolest rides at Universal’s Volcano Bay.
The Ko’okiri Body Plunge is for the fearless. The ones who have an unquenchable sense of adventure and want to test their limits to the extreme. Head up to the top of Krakatau, step onto the drop door floor and be prepared for a 125 foot dive into the splash pool at the bottom of the volcano. It’s a 70 degree descent so Ko’okiri is definitely not for the faint hearted!
You might think that the Ko’okiri Body Plunge sounds like the most intense ride in Volcano Bay but infact, it’s said that Tai Nui is the most powerful. These two slides represent the God Krakatau’s daughter and her human love interest, Kala. They’re a central story to the park and it’s worth trying out both of these drop door slides as they’re individually two very different rides with Tai Nui ending in a steep drop and Kala slightly more gentle.
Think of a lazy river but with choppy, rapid waters and you have the TeAwa Fearless River. Hold on to your rubber tube tightly and get washed around the waves as the river takes you on a little tour through the volcano and then into Rainforest Village.
If you would rather sit back, chill out and relax as opposed to getting your blood pumping on the adrenaline-fuelled rides in the park, Kopiko Winding River is the one for you. It’s also a perfect filler while you’re waiting for TapuTapu, the park's electronic queuing system, to let you know when you have to jump in line for one of the busier rides. The Kopiko Winding River is also a great way to get to other points of Volcano Bay without having to walk. Yes, this might sound lazy but why walk when you can chill out in the water?
One of the most addictive rides in Volcano Bay is the Krakatau Aqua Coaster. Think a log flume crossed with a rollercoaster and that’s what this ride is. Magnetic floors pull you, three of your friends and your canoe up hills before water shoots you back down and around hair-raising bends. This ride goes through the belly of Krakatau, the giant volcano in the middle of the park, before ending in a flowing waterfall.
This water slide looks like nothing you’ll have experienced at a water park before. A ride of two halves, you and three of your friends hop on to the raft of this open water flume and take a ride on the Turtle & Whale. The water on the Turtle takes you down the blue slide before propelling you up the high walls and then back down again. A true rollercoaster of an adventure. The Whale half of this ride, the green slide, is the calmer of the two and is meant to represent riding the ocean waves like a whale.
