Barceloneta Beach
Only in Barcelona can you walk to the beach in 20 minutes after exploring the rich culture of the popular city centre; the beach and the city go hand in hand. Dip your toes in the crystal blue sea; truly relax after a day of sightseeing at Barcelona’s closest beach, Barceloneta.The nearby port boasts an array of unique bars and seafood restaurants overlooking the ocean, offering a brilliant beach front view to diners.
This beach has enormous ties with the fishing quarter it shares its name with. This neighbourhood by the sea is the go-to place for anyone who loves to sample scrumptious seafood dishes.
If you'd rather just head to the beach so you can work on your tan, Barceloneta’s beach is clean and large enough to avoid overcrowding. Just find a spot you like, put on some suncream and soak up some rays – an essential part of Barcelona holidays.
Bogatell Beach
Bogatell Beach is approximately 600 m long and is one of the beaches that was revitalised when the Barcelona seafront was restored during the 1990s. It is very popular with the locals and tourists alike, especially outdoor sports players as it has a ping-pong table beside the Bogatell breakwater and another one, plus a volleyball court at the other end of the beach, beside the Mar Bella breakwater.
This beach can be easily reached by bicycle as it is bordered by a cycle track and is larger and less crowded than Barceloneta Beach with a more relaxed, friendly atmosphere and less hustle and bustle. Why not take the time to explore the up-and-coming neighbourhood of Poblenou situated just opposite the beach? Here you will find art studios, craft beer breweries, underground hideouts and even pop-up vintage markets.There are also a number of great bars and restaurants to explore nearby.
