Lanzarote Beaches

The long stretches of golden sands and glistening waters in Lanzarote are simply spectacular. Tourists love lazing on the beaches here and overlooking the majestic cliff-back scenery and volcano-filled backdrop. Playa Blanca is one of the most popular resorts situated in Lanzarote, thanks to its wide selection of sunny beaches. Hop on a water taxi and sail over to the famous Papagayo Beach, where you can soak up the sun and embark on fun water sport adventures.

Famara Beach

Famara beach can be located in the north west of Lanzarote and is away from the island’s more touristy areas further south. Because of this, visitors to Lanzarote are practically guaranteed peace and quiet if they choose Famara beach as their chill out location.

The beach has become a go-to location for surfers from all over the world. The waters are known to get quite choppy thanks to the wind, so Famara beach is not best suited to swimmers, but for surfing, there is nowhere better. More often than not, there are more people in the water than on the beach itself.

The beach is surrounded by beautiful hillsides, providing a gorgeous, natural backdrop to your visit. There are various sand dunes to be explored and the local town offers a great range of bars, restaurant and shops, all within walking distance of each other, so be sure to call in after a day of relaxing on the sands.

Los Charcos

Los Charcos is one of Lanzarote’s hidden gems. This beach is ideal for any holidaymakers who want to avoid the crowds and relax in a setting of peace and serenity.

Los Charcos beach is the perfect place to bring your partner or family for a picnic; pack a basket with plenty to eat and while away a few happy hours enjoying the sun, sea and sand. It’s also advised that you pack a plentiful supply of water, too, as there are not many places to eat or drink in the nearby area.

The sand is a bright shade of beige and the waters are a clear blue colour; the shore is shallow, so it’s perfect for children who want to have a splash about. Alternatively, you can sit back and enjoy a book on the sand, or just take a stroll along the stretch of sand in this serene setting.

The sea is very calm and safe for children to play in the crystal blue waters. In fact, a wall has been built at the end of the beach to stop people from swimming too far out; for this reason, inflatable beach toys are well-suited to Playa Flamingo.

The beach itself is very clean and is not usually overcrowded, so you have plenty of space to spread out and relax. The walkway down to the beach is also lined with padlocks that couples have fastened to the chain railing, to cement their love for each other while on holiday at this beautiful location.
