Tenerife Beaches

Laze on a sunbed and watch the sun sinks into the sky, at one of many idyllic beach resorts in Tenerife. Los Gigantes is the perfect spot for those looking for peace and quiet, thanks to its secluded location and scenic cliff setting. Popular man-made beach, Playa de las Americas is a hit with tourists looking to soak up the sun while dabbling in surfing adventures, water sports or even a game of basketball.

Beach los Guios

Beach Los Guios is located in Los Gigantes in the north of Tenerife and can be accessed very easily on foot. This urban beach offers absolutely breath-taking views of the cliffs that surround it; the waters are generally very calm, making it popular for those who enjoy water sports like scuba diving. This is a great place to bring children for a splash around in the sea. Boat trips also run from close to the beach.

At 180 metres, Beach Los Guios is smaller than many other beaches on the island, but that doesn't mean it is any less charming. There are many amenities on the beach including toilets, showers and sunbeds, so it is the perfect beach to bring the family to. Local bars and restaurants are located nearby, giving you the choice of enjoying a delicious meal as you take in the delightful sea views. The beach is handy for the shops, too.

El Medano

El Medano is a beautiful Canarian resort which can be found on the south coast of Tenerife. This beach is a gorgeous stretch of golden sand that is an idyllic spot to bring the whole family. This beach is the place to go in Tenerife if you are a fan of water sports; the ocean is usually filled with windsurfers and traditional surfers who make the most of the calm waves. The World Kite Surfing Championship takes place on the El Medano beach and features hundreds of sports people from around the world.

Towards the far side, away from the thrill seekers, is where swimmers tend to go. Children can play in the water safely thanks to the shallow shoreline.

The beach is located right by the resort of El Medano, so it’s handy for a great range of restaurants, giving you the chance to grab something to eat, or even take in a full meal. There’s no better way to enjoy delicious cuisine than with an ocean view accompaniment.

Las Galgas

Playa Las Galgas is known for being one of Tenerife’s quieter beaches. The beach itself is rather small and is nestled snugly within a cove, making it free from excessive winds. A small number of palm trees are dotted around the beach, so if you want to get out of the sun, just sit back against one of them.

The beach doesn't have many facilities apart from sun loungers, which are available for hire. This is an ideal spot to take your family for a picnic. Las Galgas also proves popular with those who just want to get away from the crowds of the larger beaches and relax in a cove of peace and tranquillity.

The waters are known to get rather choppy so Las Galgas is not the ideal place to bring children to play in the water, but there’s plenty of fun to be had on the sands, nonetheless.

Los Cristianos Beach

Los Cristianos is the perfect resort for anyone who is looking to set foot on the sands of a fabulous sandy beach. Situated on the sunny south coast of Tenerife, Los Cristianos began life as a small fishing village but has since grown into one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island. This is in no small part thanks to the gorgeous beach.

Los Cristianos beach can be reached along the delightful promenade, which is brimming with a range of restaurants and shops for you to call in. The area is usually very busy, making for a lively atmosphere that’s ideal for families.

Masca beach

Masca Beach can be found at the end of the Masca Walk, which is favourite with tourists from all over the world who want to get out in the fresh air and be at one with Tenerife nature. The beach itself is located within a cove.

Masca beach is a stony beach, so not the place for anyone who is looking to pitch a sun lounger or stroll on the sands. However, this wild beach boasts an unspoilt charm that makes it a draw with visitors from all over the world.

A viewing platform stretches out into the sea to offer unparalleled ocean views. Anybody can access this platform simply by walking across the sturdy walkway – on a clear day, there’s nowhere better to enjoy the sea air.

Playa de Las Vistas

Playa de las Vistas beach is situated in the popular tourist resort of Los Cristianos in Arona. The beach is one of the cleanest to be found anywhere in Tenerife and also provides beach goers with free WiFi. The waters are clean and warm, so prove popular with those who fancy taking a dip in the sea.

The beach is surrounded by cafes and restaurants that provide patrons with the chance to enjoy the incredible view of the ocean as they tuck into something tasty to eat. Playa Del Duque

Playa Jardin

Playa Jardin beach can be found in the tourist town of Puerto de la Cruz, in the north of Tenerife, and is one of the most famous stretches of sand in the whole of the region. Designed by the famous Canarian artist Cesar Manrique, the beach has been a favourite with tourists and locals alike since the 1990s.

Playa Jardin beach can be accessed by a delightful pathway via the gardens, which are home to a wide variety of local plants. The pathway takes you between stone walls and beautiful waterfalls, which make for a perfect start to a relaxing day on the beach.

This stretch of sand also provides visitors with fantastic views of Mount Teide. The black sand makes for a gorgeous contrast of the crystal blue ocean; the waters are calm and great for children who want to play in the sea. Umbrellas and sunbeds are available for hire.

Playa San Juan

Playa San Juan beach is located in the quaint fishing village of Playa de San Juan in Guia de Isora, on the south west coast of the island. Troya Beach
