Bridgetown is the largest city in Barbados, holding just under 100,00 people. It is also know as 'The City' or 'The Town'. It is the most Eastern in the Caribbean, and being the only city in Barbados, it is extremely popular, as well as being favourited for its sunny temperatures. There are may ports and harbours in Bridgetown, and is home to duty free shopping. The main beach in the city is extremely stunning, and is very accessible due to it being on the edge of the city life and all of the shops.
Barbados offers good quality Caribbean food, but not how you may think. In Bridgetown the food is often very light and continental, mostly made up of lightly cooked fresh fish dishes. The best thing about dining in Bridgetown is that there are restaurants and food joints to cater for the whole family, from recognized fast food chains to little cafés and romantic restaurants serving high quality and memorable food.
The Barbados museum is currently in the old British Military Museum and is used to inform its visitors about the Island's history using pieces and items of information. St. Mary's church in Bridgetown is an ancient church, which was built in 1630. The church is open for the public to look around and is a beautiful building and will add a little knowledge and excursion to your break away.
