Holidays to Qawra

Overview

Qawra is the place to visit in Malta if you want to take in this country’s dramatic and impressive coastline. This small resort, based in the St Paul’s Bay area of northeastern Malta is a vibrant place that packs a punch in the entertainment stakes with its lively markets and casinos, as well as providing a relaxing space where young families and couples can enjoy a break in the warm Maltese sun.

Things To Do

Take in Qawra’s pretty architecture or have a wander around the markets where you can pick delicious, thirst quenching fruit and veg or take back some handmade lace as a souvenir. A day trip that kids and adults alike will love is Popeye Village. This life-size old film set, which was built in the 1980s, has since been transformed into a Popeye-themed amusement park with fun rides which overlook the ocean!

Food And Drink

One of the best places to grab a bite to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner is down by the seafront. Here you’ll find a wide selection of sweet and savoury dishes including fenkata and bigella, specialities of Malta. Evenings remain relaxed here but sophisticated with a mixture of Latin and salsa music wafting through the air before turning to more upbeat music later in the evening when classy cocktails can be enjoyed by the sea.

Beaches

Qawra doesn’t actually have a sandy beach, however, it does have some of Malta’s most dramatic coastline to explore. There’s a promenade which stretches from Bugibba round to Qawra and it’s from here you can experience the truly wild side of Malta’s coastline, although there are some smooth patches which make the perfect spot for sunbathing! The water here is also crystal clear so take advantage and go scuba diving or snorkelling one day!
