Holidays to Puerto Banus

Puerto Banus, or to give it its full title, Puerto Jose Banus, is a coastal resort on the Costa del Sol in Spain that is quickly becoming a family favourite as it has easy access to some of the coast’s best attractions, including water parks and animal parks.

Puerto Banus is a great place for a luxurious break without having to break the bank as it is Marbella’s flashy neighbour, with a glistening marina filled to the brim with million-dollar yachts and streets that are lined with designer shops.

Designed by local property developer Jose Banus in 1970, Puerto Banus was built to attract the jet-setting celebrities of its time. The port was opened with an extravagant and sophisticated party which was attended by the likes of Hugh Hefner and Princess Grace of Monaco. This party set the benchmark for the lavish lifestyle Puerto Banus wanted to provide for its visitors.

Nowadays, Puerto Banus is still very stylish and is becoming more popular year by year. If you visit, expect to spend your day poolside in one the exclusive beach clubs and in the evening you can enjoy a few drinks at one of the many bars in town. In between the pools and the bars you can take a stroll on the beach, dine in the amazing restaurants in town or even take a little trip to nearby Marbella.

Weather

The weather in Puerto Banus is typical of many resorts on the Costa del Sol, with long and dry summers with temperatures reaching the 30° mark. This, combined with the average of 11 hours of sunshine a day, makes Puerto Banus the perfect place to soak up the sun.

The Costa del Sol hasn’t earned its name without good cause; it averages more than 300 days of sunshine each year, meaning that the winter months, albeit cooler, also enjoy the sunshine. Holidaymakers can snap up cheap Puerto Banus holidays in the winter months and still enjoy the warm Mediterranean weather.

Beaches

Many visitors to the area come here to experience the culture and relax on the beach, which is located next to the town’s vibrant marina and offers many different water sports.

Things To Do

If you find yourself in the area, you should definitely visit the Puerto Banus Street Market, which is open every Saturday. It is one of the Costa del Sol’s largest markets and sells a variety of goods from shoes and handbags to fruit and veg. You are bound to find something you like for a bargain.

You can also explore some of the resorts indoor attractions such as Marina Banus shopping centre.

Food And Drink

Puerto Banus is a gourmet’s paradise as it offers a wide selection of different cuisines that food lovers will want to sample. There’s something for everyone in this town, but if you are in the mood to try the local cuisine, head to Antonio’s. This restaurant has been in town since the 1970s and serves up some of Andalusia’s favourite dishes, mostly consisting of seafood caught locally and brought in through the town’s harbour. La Sala is one of the resort's up and coming restaurants, which mixes the classic with the contemporary, and is a popular choice amongst visiting footballers.

There are many bars and nightclubs in Puerto Banus, each offering something different for tourists. Bars such as Linekers and O’Gradys are perfect to start the night off with a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits as well as a friendly atmosphere. If you don’t find that you want to spend the whole night in these great watering holes, Aqwa Mist is one of the resorts newest and most high profile clubs that will have you dancing away until breakfast time.
