Pefkos, a quiet little resort situated on the east coast of Rhodes, is a tiny place surrounded by pine trees and olive groves. This former fishing village has kept its unique charm and shows off its authentic Greek side with family-run restaurants, beachside bars and quaint, sandy beaches which bring back families and couples year after year. Pefkos is also a great base if you want to visit lively Lindos up the coast.
You could easily spend all day relaxing on the soft sand of Lee Beach but why not take a day or two to explore the eastern coast of Rhodes? Hop on a glass-bottomed boat from the jetty and sail along the clear blue Aegean Sea to the resort of Lindos where whitewashed buildings cover the hillside. While you’re here you can also take a walk or go on a donkey ride up to the towering Acropolis on the hill.
Pefkos is the place for cocktails and chilled out beers as the sun goes down and traditional Greek meals at a cosy taverna. A lot of restaurants on the 2 main streets are family-owned and provide a friendly atmosphere while serving up fresh seafood, classical Greek dishes such as moussaka and Rhodes' signature dish, squid risotto. Koriantolino is a special evening tipple around here and is a twist on the classic Greek Ouzo.
Although there are 4 beaches nearby Pefkos, Lee Beach, which has been awarded the Blue Flag, is the most central and is covered with gorgeous soft white sand which makes it a favourite among families. At one end of the beach, there are little coves which are great for swimming in the glistening blue water and at the other, there is a water sports facility where snorkelling, kite surfing and windsurfing are available.
