The beautiful resort of Perivolos sits on the South East coast of the Greek island of Santorini and plays host to dark sandy beaches and volcanic scenery, giving it the unique setting that makes it one of the island’s most attractive holidaying destinations.
The purpose-built resort offers shops, bars, and restaurants lining the back of the beach, ensuring that Brits who are trying to make the most of cheap Perivolos holidays will be well catered for.
The area plays host to a hidden gem in the Santorini Water Park where kids, and adults, can splash around having hours of fun in the water.
If you are willing to travel a little though, a day trip to Akrotiri will surely be on the cards. This ancient Minoan city was destroyed over 3,000 years ago by a volcanic eruption and serves as a fascinating insight into olden times at less than 10 kilometres outside of the resort. In August, you will see a dazzling fireworks display from Perivolos during the Ifestia Festival, which commemorates the eruption, thought to have taken place around 1600 BC.
If you want to make the most out of cheap Perivolos holidays though, the beach and the surrounding water must be utilized. The activities on offer include snorkelling, scuba diving and boat trips around the islands.
You will find international cuisines in the resort, but do take the time to sample some of the traditional Greek dining and those dishes that make use of the locally caught seafood. Sea Side by Notos is a great example of both of these attributes with a little hint of the modern. You can try salmon, sea bass or whatever is freshly caught, as well as the moussaka or lamb dishes for which the Greek are famous, and all the while looking out to the beautiful sea that aids the aesthetics of the resort.
Although the resort cannot be described as a clubber’s paradise, it does have a lively nightlife with plenty of bars offering up drinks specials, live music and a party atmosphere. Jo Jos Beach Bar is a classic example of what the island does best, with DJs and live music blaring whilst refreshing cocktails are served surrounded by the sea. Of course if you want a quieter time, the resort plays host also to numerous tavernas by the beach, where you can relax with a little food and wine while looking out to the sea.
