Holidays to Runaway Bay

Overview

If you’re looking for peace and quiet on your Caribbean holiday, head to the quiet resort of Runaway Bay on Jamaica’s north coast. This laidback destination is one of the only places on the island that doesn’t get overrun with day-trippers so you’re guaranteed a holiday of pure relaxation on some of Jamaica’s most desirable beaches. Hotels here often overlook the Caribbean Sea too so you’re almost guaranteed an ocean view in Runaway Bay.

Things To Do

Runaway Bay is close to a lot of beautiful attractions in Jamaica. If you’re into the reggae music scene, Bob Marley’s home Nine Mile is only a short journey away but if it’s an outdoor adventure you’re looking for, go to Dunn’s River Falls. This spectacular, 600-foot waterfall tumbles down a cascading limestone rock face which, believe it or not, is a popular climbing spot as well as being a great place to cool down!

Beaches

Most seafront hotels in Runaway Bay lay claim to a private bit of sand but there are 2 stunning beaches in these resorts that are free for anyone to use. Cardiff Hall Beach and Fisherman’s Beach are the places to go if you want to spend your day in the sun. Snorkelling and scuba diving are also very popular here as coral reefs and exotic wildlife thrives in the warm waters surrounding Runaway Bay.

Food And Drink

The cuisine scene in Runaway Bay is mainly traditional Jamaican food. Think Caribbean jerk chicken and fish that are fresh from the ocean that day. Curries are also popular on the menus but it’s the tropical cocktails that are a real highlight of this resort. After dinner, take a spot at one of the open fronted beach bars to sample an unforgettable rum concoction as chilled out reggae music plays in the background.
