Holidays to Amadores

Overview

Tucked away near the bustling resort of Puerto Rico is Amadores, a quiet bay popular with families and couples looking for an idyllic hideaway. A relative newcomer to Gran Canaria’s tourist scene, the resort’s main draw is its beach, sheltered in a sweeping bay and protected from the winds and strong currents of the Atlantic. Consisting of little more than hotels, restaurants and the beach, Amadores is the perfect getaway destination.

Beaches

The beach at Amadores is man-made, with crushed coral sand imported from the Caribbean for a real touch of the tropics! Translating as ‘Lovers’ Beach’, Playa de Amadores is a romantic haven, with strict rules against loud music or ball games. Despite this, it’s also a popular spot for families due to the soft sand and safe swimming conditions for children. The beach is conveniently backed by restaurants and bars offering a choice of refreshments.

Things To Do

Amadores is ideally located close to the popular family resort of Puerto Rico, and a fun way to access this bustling resort is via the scenic clifftop path that connects the two resorts. The walk takes just half an hour and is a great opportunity to get some fabulous photos! 15 minutes’ drive away is Puerto Mogán, one of Gran Canaria’s most picturesque towns, and Maspalomas, a huge resort with a variety of attractions.

Family Fun

Although Amadores has little other entertainment to offer beyond the beach, several great activities can be found in nearby Puerto Rico, such as watersports and glass-bottomed boat trips. Dolphins and whales live in the waters around the Canary Islands, and taking a boat excursion to see these amazing creatures is an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike. On the edge of Maspalomas is Aqualand, Gran Canaria’s biggest waterpark.
