Orlando is the ultimate family holiday for you and your kids. With plenty of fun theme parks to visit, huge outlet shopping malls to walk through and the warm Florida sunshine to enjoy, Orlando is a place where lifelong memories can be made!
It’s no secret that the theme parks here in Orlando are some of the best in the world. Be a big kid again at Walt Disney World, where you can hang out with Mickey and Minnie Mouse or get the adrenalin pumping at Universal Studios on rides like The Incredible Hulk Rollercoaster! If thrilling rides aren’t your thing, there are several wildlife parks, world class golf courses and water parks to keep you entertained.
The main reason most people come to Orlando is to visit the theme parks. Disney has six different theme parks in Orlando including two water parks. Turn into a big kid at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios where your favourite Disney characters join you for a day to remember. If you need to cool down from the tropical Florida heat, try out Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach where you can drift down the lazy river, ride waves on the giant surf pool or swim with tropical sea life at Shark Reef.
Disney isn’t the only place to try out thrilling rides. Neighbouring Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are just as wild. The Incredible Hulk Rollercoaster, The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman and Jurassic Park River Adventure are sure fire ways to get the adrenalin going. For those that aren’t so sure about the wild rides rides and for all those big kids out there, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a must for fans of the books and films. Grab a wand at Ollivanders, take on the Dragon Challenge and ride the Hogwarts Express all the way to King’s Cross Station at Islands of Adventure.
For a more educational experience, and any want-to-be astronauts out there, Kennedy Space Centre is an iconic base which has been the home to many NASA missions since 1968. Have lunch with an astronaut, get up close to a real life space rocket or experience what it’s like to blast off in a shuttle launch!
Outside of the theme parks, there’s so much going on in Orlando you won’t know where to start. Do you fancy a round of golf at one of Orlando’s world class courses? Maybe it’s adventure golf you’re looking for? If so, Pirates Cove is the place to be for a fun filled round of cascading waterfalls and legendary pirates.
If you’re looking to grab some bargains while you’re over this side of the pond, Orlando isn’t short of a shopping mall or two. The Florida Shopping Mall or Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets are great places to stock up on clothes before heading back home. Just keep in mind that you may need a bigger suitcase!
If you’re in Orlando for a theme park centred holiday, there’s no shortage of food and drink outlets at any of the resorts. There are fast food outlets if you need a quick pick me up or there are fine dining options for those who want to relax after a hair raising day on the rollercoasters. At the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter you can grab some food in the Leaky Cauldron or the Three Broomsticks – a must for any budding witch or wizard! One of our favourite experiences for eating at the theme parks is a special character breakfast where Mickey and Co. will join you for the first meal of the day. What a treat!
Here’s a tip for you – if you find that you can’t finish the huge portion sizes, ask for the rest of your food to be bagged up. This means you’ve got a snack for later on in the day!
Outside of the theme parks, there’s still plenty of choice for places to eat in Orlando. For breakfast, take advantage of the huge breakfast buffets that are on offer at many restaurants and in the evening dine on Sushi, Italian or good American burgers on International Drive!
Orlando isn’t the biggest party place in Florida but for adults over 21, there are plenty of novelty bars in the theme parks, especially Universal’s City Walk where you can drink cocktails and dance the night away.
