Leave the bleak British summertime weather behind and give yourself a good dose of vitamin D somewhere nice and warm. It can be hard to narrow down a destination, but finding one with a good beach is a necessity so you can relax on the sand, look out towards the crystal blue sea and shade yourself with palm trees when the sun is at its peak.
Gran Canaria is celebrated for the mix and quality of the beaches there, but that's not taking anything away from the rest of Spain, especially La Concha Beach in the North. Whether or not you prefer pebble beaches to traditional golden sand, volcanic black sand or even pink sand (yes that's a thing), there's a beach for you. They come in all shapes and sizes, literally, so you'll always be able to find one that's perfect for you.
Don't forget, if you're travelling with children, be sure to ensure the nearby beaches are safe and clean by checking if they have been awarded the Blue Flag. That way, they can play around, swimming and building as many sand castles as they desire, and you can be confident about their safety, the quality of the water and the number of amenities for the whole family.
