Hvar is Croatia’s most exclusive destination, a town where people come to see and be seen! Hvar Town’s stylish harbour is filled throughout the summer months with elegant sailing boats and expensive yachts, and the streets and bars fill with backpackers and millionaires alike looking for the party holiday of a lifetime! Hvar is a favourite destination of politicians and celebrities – recent visitors have included Prince Harry, Steven Spielberg and Beyoncé.
Hvar is famous for its nightlife, specialising in trendy beachside bars with gorgeous cocktails and VIP areas. One of Hvar Town’s most popular bars is Carpe Diem, a party bar on its own island where visitors are ferried to and from the venue! Other busy spots are Hula Hula beach bar and Pink Champagne, a luxurious lounge club. Hvar also hosts several electronic music festivals during the summer, including Outlook and Soundwave.
Hvar Town is oozing with culture – the terracotta streets surrounded by huge city walls that were originally built to protect the city from invaders. It’s a great place to wander, or you can climb the imposing medieval fortress in the north of the town for spectacular views of the town and surrounding islands. St Stephen’s Square is a great place to people-watch at a café, and the cathedral has a beautiful interior.
Not many people come to Hvar without taking a sailing trip; book on a tour or hire a boat and go exploring around Hvar or further afield to neighbouring islands. One of the most beautiful trips is around the Pakleni Islands, a cluster of lush green islands with beautiful beaches. Not to be missed is a tour to Hvar’s Blue Grotto, a sea cave that glows fluorescent blue when sunlight shines in!
