You may know this Island by its other name, Lefkada, which means White Island, but whatever you choose to call it, it’s relaxing and offers a traditional Greek holiday. It's linked to the Greek mainland by a causeway and with its mountainous, chalky cliffs, beautiful green vegetation and spectacular beaches, Lefkas should be on the top of your list of places to visit if you want to sample the charming way of Greek life.
The nightlife on Lefkas is not really what you come here for, but what is on offer is quite cosmopolitan, especially when it can boast such visitors as Tom Hanks and Naomi Campbell who are alleged to have been spotted in one of the upmarket harbour-side bars. With two famous sailing centres on offer and numerous windsurfing spots this tiny Island still has plenty to offer for everyone.
Take a boat trip to explore, and sail past the island of Scorpios, owned by the Onassis family and once used as their family home. Or you could even get into the water and give one of the many water sports on offer a go, as windsurfing and snorkelling is very popular.
In Lefkas there are many picturesque walking routes that will lead you to secluded coves and villages too,so make sure you ask your tour guide or hotel receptionist as to where the best and most beautiful walking routes are nearby for a little adventure.
The trendy harbour of Lefkas is where most people gather to relax, enjoy a drink and sample some the local and international food on offer. Lefkas is great for offering a real taste of Greece with fresh seafood and several vegetarian dishes being made fresh every hour of the day.
