Holidays to Vasiliki

Overview

Hidden away on the south coast of Lefkas is Vasiliki, an impossibly picturesque beach resort famous as an excellent windsurfing location. Located on a sweeping bay and backed by lush green hills, Vasiliki is busy throughout the summer months with families and older couples looking for a relaxing holiday, as well as windsurfers looking for a decent breeze! It’s also a popular sailing location, and the harbour is often full of yachts.

Beaches

Vasiliki’s beaches are mostly pebbled, and although this is not as soft on the feet it does mean that the water is crystal clear! Vasiliki’s main beach is Vasiliki Bay where windsurfers tend to gather, but around the coast is the preferred beach for tourists, Aghiofili. This pretty pebbled beach is surrounded by white cliffs and bright blue-green water, and kids can be seen snorkelling to catch sight of the fish swimming below.

Watersports

The location of Vasiliki and the windy conditions make it one of Europe’s leading windsurfing destinations during the summer months. There are countless beach clubs and watersports centre where you can rent equipment and book lessons for windsurfing and a range of other watersports. Beginners tend to come out in the morning when the wind is lighter, while the pros look forward to the stronger winds in the afternoon.

Things To Do

Vasiliki is backed by beautiful green hills, but the coast in between the resort and the neighbouring town of Ponti is quite flat, making it ideal for gentle walks and days out cycling. Lefkas Town is 40 minutes away via the public bus service, or you can take boat trips to the neighbouring islands of Kefalonia and Ithaka, which can be seen from Vasiliki on a clear day.
