Not to be outdone, Serra de Tramuntana serves up UNESCO-certified beauty in the shape of shimmering reservoirs, soaring mountains and ancient olive groves.
Stalactites and symphonies
Natural beauty also runs deep on a Cala Millor holiday – cue the Cuevas del Drach (aka the Drach Caves). A charming boat ride will take you around one of the largest underground lakes in the world (Lake Martel), where you’ll see otherworldly stalactites against a backdrop of mega mood lighting.

Top beaches: Where to be by the bay
Some call it Son Moro, others Cala Nau, but either way, Cala Millor Beach is the sandy jewel in the resort’s coastline crown. Come here for Blue Flag beauty, watersports galore and plenty of room to top up your tan – even when it's heaving with tourists. If you like your beaches small and serene, descend the steps to Es Rajoli Beach. What it lacks in facilities, it more than makes up for in cove calmness. At the opposite end of the spectrum, nearby Cala Bona Beach has all the bells and whistles: sun loungers, changing huts, cafes, bars and sheltered shallows.
Food and drink: Say adios to hunger
From the hearty arroz brut (a stewy rice-based dish) to the sweet, spiralling ensaimada (a creamy pastry-based dessert), Majorca’s menus are jam-packed with tasty meals and bites. Head to Amapola Brasas for fresh fish right by the coast. For a side of spectacular sea views with traditional tapas, pull up a stool at Restaurante La Terraza del Mar. And when it’s time to wash it all down, order a ruby glass of the local tipple, Manto Negro – a smooth, fresh staple of most Majorcan wine lists.
Family-friendly: Action for all ages
With paddle-friendly shallows, beach games and watersports, family holidays to Cala Millor have plenty to keep you and your kids entertained by the sea. But there are plenty of options for fun times away from the bay, too. Hop on over to Happy Park for bouncy castles, slides, quads and bumper cars. Elsewhere, Viu Aventura offers full-on family adventures. Climb, canyon, trek and zipline your way across Majorca’s ludicrously lovely landscape. Want to keep it local? Rent bikes from Fun Island and peruse Cala Millor’s seafront promenade from the comfort of your saddles.
When to go to Cala Millor
If you’re heading to Cala Millor for the best beach weather (and let’s face it, you probably are), visit in peak season between June and August. You can expect sizzling temperatures hovering around the 30s.
For a better chance of bagging a bargain with fewer fellow tourists and only slightly lower temperatures, book a holiday to Cala Millor in the shoulder seasons (search for deals in either May or September). You’re looking at the mercury hitting the mid-to-high 20s on either side of the summer.
Rates drop even further in autumn, so if you're keen to bag a truly fiscally-friendly getaway, this is a great time to go. You may need something to throw over your shoulders in the evenings, but October’s highs of 23C keep things pleasantly warm by day.
