Where Are The Quietest Holiday Resorts In Zante?

Everyone knows that Laganas in Zante is a club 18-30 haven and a hub for all-day-drinkers or party seekers, with beach parties and booze cruise galore, as well as a selection of bars and clubs, most of which offer free entry. If this was your first experience of the Greek island, you might find it difficult to believe there's a quieter side to Zante.

However, having visited the island myself, I can confirm that there are in fact a selection of resorts that are calm, collected and the complete opposite of the above, making them perfect for a quiet family holiday or romantic couples getaway.

Kalamaki

Kalamaki may neighbour and share the same beach as Laganas, but the two resorts couldn't be more different. Life here occurs at a much slower pace, with lazy days by the beach being commonplace, as well as glass-bottomed boat trips to watch the turtles swimming in their natural habitat.

The high street has enough chilled out bars and restaurants to keep things interesting in the evenings, including Cave bar, a lovely bar built into the side of a hill that offers incredible views of the lush olive groves and coast below, especially at sunset.

It's a great holiday option for those wanting to enjoy a quiet break in the sun, safe in the knowledge that if they want a more lively night out, they can head to the resort next door.

Vassilikos

Home to the best beaches in the island, Vassilikos is a peaceful resort oozing with authentic Greek charm. It is very much in the countryside and is renowned for its lush scenery and natural beauty.

Laid-back restaurants, tavernas, and shops are scattered around, along with working farms, but you won't spot any major hotels or over-development in this whitewashed village. The quiet nightlife scene is ideal for families and couples who want nothing less than to sit down and relax with a good meal after a busy day exploring.

Alykanas

Alykanas is a quiet retreat that has truly managed to keep its Greek charm over the years. A village of two parts, Alykanas shows off the new town by the beach and the winding streets of the old town which are sprinkled with individual shops and family run tavernas. Families are well looked after here with a whole host of activities to keep everyone entertained and relaxed.

As a traditional resort, there aren’t any loud clubs or rowdy bars in Alykanas. Instead, there are chilled out cocktail bars playing summery music and family friendly restaurants with play areas for children.
