Miles of white sand gives way to dramatic cliffs sheltering secluded coves around the coast of Zakynthos. Otherwise known as Zante, Zakynthos is the southern-most island in the Ionian archipelago off the coast of Greece and is an extremely popular tourist resort through high season. Do not be fooled by what you’ve heard - Zante is not just a party-paradise, it is an explorer's dream and perfect for a family getaway.
Things to Do
Take a guided boat trip to Marathonisi to see endangered Loggerhead sea turtles, visit Zante Town for a taste of culture, or hit Laganas for a night on the town! The iconic Navagio Beach is not to be missed, with its dramatic image of the rusted shipwreck contrasting against the pure white cliffs that can be found on postcards all over Greece, so make sure you take your camera with you!
Food and Drink
Cuisine in Zakynthos is very typically Greek. Start with mezze boards of olives, stuffed vine leaves and feta cheese, followed by souvlaki skewers of barbecued meat and vegetables topped off with a glass of ouzo. Although all of the main resorts cater to the tourist trade, offering restaurants serving every type of cuisine from Italian to Chinese, authentic Greek cooking is not to be passed up on, especially when in Greece!
Set amongst stunning mountain scenery, Argassi attracts visitors back year after year with its relaxed atmosphere and entertaining nightlife.
Popular as a Greek alternative to Ibiza, Laganas attracts thousands of young holidaymakers each year wanting to let loose on the 'Golden Mile' by night, and soak up the sunshine by day!
Zante’s capital city is a great mixture of culture, history, beaches and great food. All these elements combine to make Zante Town a relaxing and interesting place to come on holiday.
