Sofia is the biggest city in Bulgaria as well as its capital. It holds approximately 1.2 million people and is located in the Western area of Bulgaria. Sofia is probably one of the most modern and fast paced cities in Bulgaria, yet holds lots of history and stunning architecture and holds an important religious state, as well as many successful universities, many cultural institutes and home to many businesses and does well economically.

Sofia really thrives in both culture and history and there is lots to do for families, couples and solo travellers. The Ivan Vazov National Theatre is one of Bulgaria's most important landmarks and is located right in the city centre. It holds almost 1000 people and puts on fabulous and famous shows from across the world including well establishes theatre schools. Sofia is also famous for its beautiful places of worship. The Alexander Neuski Church, Boyana Church and The Saint Nedelja church are well worth a look. The Rotunda of St George is a very ancient building, built in the fourth century and is the oldest building in Sofia. The institute of Archeology is a museum part of the Bulgarian macadam of sciences which is proven to be very popular with tourists of the city.

You can't really leave Bulgaria without trying out one of their traditional dishes in one of their traditional restaurants.. which are definitively not hard to find. Eating out in Bulgaria is fairly cheap and the quality of food they serve is very good, which consists of hot and cold soups, stews and healthily grilled meats, commonly pork.
