This beautiful resort on Corfu’s northwest coast is a haven of natural beauty, situated in a lush valley with a long curved coastline and a backdrop of pine trees and olive groves. The resort itself is little more than a village, consisting of just a few houses, hotels, shops and restaurants and oozing with old Greek charm. Unspoilt by tourism, Agios Georgios North is perfect for couples and families who want to escape the crowds.
On a holiday in Agios Georgios North you’d be missing out if you didn’t take the opportunity to explore the beautiful natural scenery around the resort. There are a number of walking trails for all fitness levels, taking walkers past beautiful countryside, olive groves and stunning ocean views. If walking isn’t for you, you can also hire mountain bikes or take a boat trip to see the coastline from the sea.
The beach is Agios Georgios’ main draw; the 5km long horseshoe bay is one of Corfu’s prettiest beaches yet also one of the less visited. Flanked on both sides by green hills and covered with a soft bed of golden sand, the beach is not only a great place to relax but a fantastic photo opportunity. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available to rent, and there are watersports on offer for the more adventurous.
Day Trips
Public transport to and from Agios Georgios North is limited, so if you want to explore more of the island you should hire a car or prepare to spend money on taxis. The neighbouring villages of Afionas, Paleokastritsa and Pagi are all worth a short visit, and from the harbour, at nearby Agios Stefanos, you can join boat trips to a range of resorts and offshore islands around Corfu.
