Located on Corfu’s south west coast, Agios Georgios South is a quiet resort, surrounded by olive groves and a beautiful beach. Favoured by families and couples for its laidback pace and quiet atmosphere, Agios Georgios South is particularly popular amongst outdoorsy types and nature lovers due to its beautiful scenery. The resort is well placed for venturing further afield, just 20 minutes from Kavos and half an hour from Corfu Town.
Agios Georgios South has two beaches, one backed by sand dunes and the other by cliffs, with golden sand stretching as far as the eye can see along the coastline. The beach is popular and often busy in summer, but quiet spots can be found on the edge of the beach away from the hub of the resort. Cafes and tavernas are close to the beach and watersports are popular, particularly jet skiing and paragliding.
Just north of Agios Georgios South is Lake Korission, a saltwater lagoon where turtles, lizards and many species of birds live. Many holidaymakers visit this nature reserve to go birdwatching and see the many animals that call it their home. Another outdoor activity is the walk through the olive groves to the traditional Greek village of Argyrades, where you can soak up the atmosphere and enjoy spectacular views of the coastline.
Day trips to Corfu Town are popular from Agios Georgios South, located just a 40-minute car ride away. Corfu Town is the cultural and historical centre of the island, with a range of churches, museums and an old fortress to visit. Travel agents around the resort offer other excursions and boat trips, and if you want a big night out the famous party resort of Kavos is only 20 minutes away by taxi.
Not to be confused with Agios Georgios South, this resort on Corfu’s north-west coast is a haven of natural beauty set in a horseshoe bay and oozing authentic Greek charm.
