Holidays to Laganas

Overview

Laganas has made quite a name for itself as the Greek alternative to Ibiza. Known as a party resort, cheap Laganas holidays are frequented by those looking for fun in the Zante sun. The Golden Mile of bars and nightclubs stretches to meet the white-sand beach, awash with sun loungers and parasols. By day, enjoy sipping cocktails at chilled-out pool parties or lounge on the glorious beach to recover from the efforts of the night before; and by night, prepare for chaos as the seemingly endless strip of bars and clubs comes to life to keep you dancing ’til dawn!

Though a popular destination for those heading out on 18-30s trips, Laganas offers a great deal more than this. With watching visiting wildlife a great way to break up your hectic and fun-filled trip, there’s also a chance to see the real Greece.

Though the spirit evoked as the sun goes down is a main draw of cheap Laganas holidays in Zakynthos, close behind is the stunning weather the resort enjoys. Through the summer months, temperatures are comfortably in the high 20s and into the low 30s, ensuring that sunbathers are happy. It is warm all through the year in Laganas though, with May to October seeing warm to hot weather. Ideal as a fun and frenetic break away in the winter too, things calm down a little but still offer much to do in the warm climate.

Beaches

The beach here is a natural destination, stretching as far as the eye can see from the east to the west of the resort. A lively place throughout the day, it’s perfect for topping up your tan while enjoying the facilities on offer, which include every watersport you could think of.

A great tip is to keep on along the beach to the Agios Sostis. There, a wooden footbridge crossing the sea to Cameo Island awaits. A delightful walk anyway, the beach club at the other side is a joyous find to boot.

Aside from being a place to soak up the sun, the beach is also a place of great natural interest. Every year, it’s home to the annual egg-laying migration of loggerhead turtles. One of nature’s marvels, the yearly spectacle takes place between May and August.

Things To Do

Once a small fishing village, Laganas has turned into one of the best resorts on Zante and the place to be for the southeastern region of the island. Promising fun-packed days, cheap Laganas holidays offer something for everyone to do round the clock.

If you fancy a change from cocktails on the beach, why not try turtle-spotting? Laganas beach is famous as the seasonal home of the endangered Loggerhead turtle. Hop on a guided boat tour to Marathonisi Island to see the turtle nesting grounds; you might even spot some swimming along the way. Boats are the transport of choice in Greece, with many of Zante’s hidden gems only accessible by sea – don’t miss the iconic Navagio Beach.

Laganas is also perfectly placed for trips into the capital, Zante Town. Said to be the Venice of the South, it’s a truly cosmopolitan area where high street chains, designer boutiques and divine pavement cafes abound.

Food And Drink

There are plenty of places to eat in Laganas itself. From the lively bars and cafes that surround the beach, to high-end restaurants and traditional tavernas. For a local delight, heading to the family-run Panos cafe is a must. Catering to the party revellers, Laganas’ main strip is full of fast food restaurants and takeaways. You will find many fast food chains here, as well as pizzerias and British cafés serving tastes of home.

Ouzo is the local tipple, traditionally served over ice as an aperitif but in Laganas, you’re more likely to be drinking it like a shot!

For many Brits, cheap Laganas holidays are all about the partying. With a mile-long stretch of bars and clubs, it’s easy to understand why. Laganas operates a ‘go hard or go home’ philosophy, with its bars and clubs offering everything from pub crawls to school discos, foam parties to paint parties. There are around 50 places open until long into the night here.

Making it very much the Magaluf of Zante, clubs such as Plus Club and Rescue are among the hottest places to be for the best DJs. Located just off the mainland on Cameo Island is an offshore nightclub – its famous ‘White Party’ is the only place to be on a Sunday night. Watch the sunset over the sparkling Aegean, and dance ’til the early hours on the floating dancefloor!
