Holidays to Alykes

A holiday to Alykes is ideal for any sun-loving holidaymaker, particularly couples and families. With a cosy and welcoming setting in the northern side of Zante, cheap Alykes holidays offer a friendly resort to enjoy the sun and sand, as well as get a real taste of Greek culture in all of its glory.

Both throughout the day and at night, it is clear just how social this wonderful part of Zante, or Zakynthos is, and this is particularly evident at the restaurants and bars frequented by locals. The local wildlife reserve and salt flats are a joy to discover too, ensuring there is something to enjoy no matter where you look.

If summer sun is your cup of tea, then cheap Alykes holidays in the peak season will be just right for you. With the temperature comfortably settling in the mid-20s from June, and heading north of 30°C in July and August, sun-drenched days are all but guaranteed. The winter sun is wonderful too, and for many offers the perfect setting for exploring the local landscape. With temperatures often above 20ºC during the spring and autumn months too, it’s a year-round destination for anyone wanting a relaxing and rejuvenating break.

Many people heading out on cheap Alykes holidays are drawn by the coast, which is considered to be among the very best on the island of Zante.

This is typified by Alykanas Beach, which offers winds ideal for a spot of windsurfing. The golden sands are also a natural destination for sun worshippers, while the clear and shallow waters and sloping sands make it ideal for family fun and paddling.

Things To Do

Separating Alykes from its neighbouring resort of Alykanas is the Skourtis River. Here though, there are wonderful salt flats to explore. Walking the flats is itself a unique experience, while they play home to a vast array of wildlife, from owls to the geckos they eagerly hunt.

The ancient buildings lining the roads of Alykes are a constant delight to look at, while the old stone river crossing is a great place for memorable selfies to be taken. With horse and carriage rides taking you to and fro, there really is a great deal to enjoy in this stunning little resort.

Food And Drink

With traditional tavernas, cafe bars and a number of international restaurants, there is no lack of wonderful places to wine and dine in Alykes. With a riverside location, Paradosiako deserves a mention for its mezes, stews and local dishes.

Nighttime entertainment in Alykes is a fun and family-oriented affair, with only a few bars and restaurants staying open until very late at night. One joint certainly worth heading to is the Ammos Bar. Open through the day too, it is famed for its cocktails after the sun goes down. Paradosiako is great for couples at night as well.
