Alykanas is a quiet retreat that has truly managed to keep its Greek charm over the years. A village of two parts, Alykanas shows off the new town by the beach and the winding streets of the old town which are sprinkled with individual shops and family run tavernas. Families are also well looked after here with a whole host of activities to keep everyone entertained and relaxed on a holiday to Alykanas.

Things to Do

Well, apart from relaxing in the sun, there are plenty of shops in the old town that are perfect for picking up pretty souvenirs and handmade leather goods. Or why not collect memories with the family and take a horse riding tour around the countryside and olive groves of Alykanas. There is also a mini golf course closer to the beach which kids and big kids alike will love on a sunny afternoon!

Alykanas has a beautiful 1200-metre stretch of sand that has plenty of space to spread out any time of year. Set against a backdrop of mountains, this beach has clear views of Kefalonia and a variety of watersports to try out. Spend an afternoon on a pedalo or take to the skies and try out the adventurous sports of paragliding! There are also plenty of beach cafes to grab a cooling drink from the afternoon sun.

Food and Drink

As a traditional resort, there aren’t any loud clubs or rowdy bars in Alykanas. Instead there are chilled out cocktail bars playing summery music and family friendly restaurants with play areas for children. There are many family-run tavernas serving moussaka and fresh seafood but you’ll also find international cuisine served in the restaurants of Alykanas. Most places can be found on the main street but there are also great places hidden in Alykanas’ small alleyways.
